Judas Priest Vintage Concert on DVD |
|
JUDAS PRIEST TO RELEASE VINTAGE CONCERT DVD 'LIVE VENGEANCE '82' ON
APRIL 4, 2006 THROUGH COLUMBIA/LEGACY
PREVIOUSLY ONLY AVAILABLE ON DVD AS LIMITED-EDITION BONUS WITH 'METALOGY' BOX SET
Judas Priest had steadily been building a worldwide audience for eight long years when the 1982 album 'Screaming For Vengeance' exploded and became a smash commercial and critical hit. The mainstream had finally caught on and realized what die-hard fans had known all along: Nobody rocked harder or better than the British heavy metal quintet. The single ‘You've Got Another Thing Comin' was embraced by radio and the music video earned heavy rotation on MTV.
Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings will release the DVD 'Live Vengeance '82' on April 4, 2006. It was previously only available on DVD as a limited-edition bonus disc with the first pressings of Judas Priest's career-spanning box set 'Metalogy' in 2004. This performance, filmed during the arena-packing 'Screaming For Vengeance' world tour on December 12, 1982, at Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, Tennessee, was first released on home video in 1983 as 'Judas Priest - Live'. It had been out of print for many years before its brief inclusion as part of 'Metalogy'.
Vocalist Rob Halford, lead guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing and bass guitarist Ian Hill lead Judas Priest through a fiery set comprised of classics from previous albums such as 'Sad Wings Of Destiny', 'Sin After Sin', 'Hell Bent For Leather', 'British Steel' and 'Point Of Entry' as well as the cream of 'Screaming For Vengeance'.
The 17 tracks on 'Live Vengeance '82' include: 'The Hellion/Electric Eye', 'Riding On The Wind', 'Heading Out To The Highway', 'Metal Gods', 'Bloodstone', 'Breaking The Law', 'Sinner', 'Desert Plains', 'The Ripper', 'Diamonds And Rust', 'Devil's Child', 'Screaming For Vengeance', 'You've Got Another Thing Comin',' 'Victim Of Changes', 'Living After Midnight', 'The Green Manalishi (With The Two-Pronged Crown)' and 'Hell Bent For Leather'.
The 'Live Vengeance '82' audio is mastered in both stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound mixes....more information

MEGADETH AND CAPITOL/EMI TO RELEASE ARSENSAL OF MEGADETH, A TWO-DISC DVD ANTHOLOGY SPANNING BAND’S CAREER OF METAL MASTERY
New DVD Set Contains Nearly Three Hours of Footage, Including Music Videos and 32 Previously Unreleased Live Performances, Home Video and Interviews
In Stores: March 21, 2006
Hollywood, California - February 21, 2006 – Megadeth has teamed with Capitol Records/EMI Music Catalog Marketing to unleash Arsenal of Megadeth, a new comprehensive two-disc DVD collection available March 21. A visual career anthology containing 32 previously unreleased clips, Arsenal of Megadeth chronicles the rise and evolution of the band, providing fans with a heavy metal armory of music videos, interviews, home video shot by Megadeth’s own Dave Mustaine and hidden tracks. Clocking in at almost three hours, Arsenal of Megadeth’s track list was personally compiled by Mustaine, ensuring the ultimate head-hammering Megadeth experience.
Following the 2005 release of Megadeth’s Greatest Hits: Back to the Start CD and deluxe CD/DVD collections of singles and fan favorites, Arsenal of Megadeth provides fans with the most in-depth look ever provided into the band’s storied history. In addition to 20 of the band’s music videos, Arsenal contains a bevy of career-spanning previously unreleased material, including behind the scenes audition footage, a 1995 band appearance on MTV’s “Most Wanted,” a clip of Dave Mustaine’s guest appearance on “The Drew Carey Show,” and concert footage from 2005’s GIGANTOUR - essential cuts for every Megafan.
In 2005, Megadeth was the headbanging, headlining act of Dave Mustaine’s GIGANTOUR, a tour founded on the principles of “fan-friendly” pricing and accessibility to the music. Mustaine’s vision for GIGANTOUR was to "put together a festival that consisted of positive bands that play heavy music in a high energy environment." 2005’s inaugural GIGANTOUR did just that and was an immense international success. Arsenal of Megadeth contains previously unreleased concert footage from the tour, including a live performance of Megadeth’s metal anthem, “Peace Sells.”
Megadeth was formed in 1983, and in the words of The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years director Penelope Spheeris, “[have] always been intelligent and uncompromising; they gave an entire generation a new perspective on our troubled world.”
Megadeth members Dave Mustaine, Glen Drover (lead and rhythm guitar), James MacDonough (bass) and Shawn Drover (drums) keep themselves engaged with their fanbase by regularly posting to the official Megadeth website (www.megadeth.com). The site connects fans to the Megadeth eBay auction site and fan forums, and provides up-to-date official information on all-things-Megadeth.
As Megadeth rips into its 23rd year, check out Arsenal of Megadeth – an essential weapon for every Rattlehead and metal lover’s own DVD armory...more information

|
Former RATT frontman Stephen Pearcy will be joined by bassist Chuck Wright (QUIET RIOT) and drummer Scott Coogan (BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION) for his upcoming "Metal In America" tour with BANG TANGO and PRETTY BOY FLOYD (beginning in early February). Motorhead: 30th Anniversary Deluxe Expanded Editions |
|
Available November 11th through Sanctuary Records
Classic Motorhead Albums Receive Special Treatment With Bonus Tracks, Re-Mastering And Extensive Liner Notes
30 years ago, a man called “Lemmy” created something ugly, loud and legendary. That something was Motorhead.
In celebration of three decades of one of the most underrated, influential, and downright noisy bands to ever walk the face of the planet, Sanctuary Records presents commemorative, 30th anniversary editions of some of Motorhead’s most important and memorable albums, as well as a collection of BBC archive recordings and vintage performances from the 70s and 80s. Overkill, Bomber, Ace Of Spades, Iron Fist and No Remorse have all been faithfully restored and enhanced for the momentous occasion.
Debuting in 1976 after Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister was unceremoniously ejected from the space-rock band Hwawkwind, Motorhead was certainly something “different”. “Different” in a good way, of course. The band invented a musical genre known, appropriately enough, as “speed metal”. Fast, crude, in-your-face and abrasive as hell, there had never been anything else quite like Motorhead.
With the release of Overkill in 1979, Motorhead introduced the lineup that would create some of the most important hard music albums ever written: Lemmy on bass and grinding vocal duties, “Fast” Eddie Clarke on guitar and “Philthy” Phil Taylor on drums. It seems only fitting that the first album to feature this legendary unit should receive the deluxe edition treatment. Such memorable tracks as “Overkill”, “Stay Clean”, “Damage Case” and “Tear Ya Down” are given a high-profile presentation, while a second disc of bonus tracks, including b-sides and BBC radio performances makes this release worth having.
Bomber, Motorhead’s second 1979 release and the album made famous by the unique “bomber” shaped lighting rig that highlighted the accompanying tour, features such awesome songs as “Bomber” and “Stone Dead Forever”, as well as a bonus disc featuring b-sides, alternate versions of album tracks, and the “Golden Years” EP.
1980’s Ace Of Spades again features fully re-mastered takes of the entire original album, including the seminal title track, perhaps Motorhead’s most well-known anthem, as well as multiple alternate versions of many of the album’s standout tracks and BBC radio session outtakes.
Iron Fist, originally released in 1982, features a bonus disc with a full live set performed in 1982 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.
No Remorse, a “best-of” collection originally released in 1984, now features bonus tracks “Under The Knife”, “Masterplan” and two tracks “No Class” and “Stand By Your Man” with guest vocals by shock rock icon Wendy O’Williams.
Finally, the BBC Live & In-Session features 2 discs comprising 5 unique BBC recording sessions of Motorhead classics recorded between 1978 and 1986.
In 30 years, Motorhead has done as much as any ten lesser bands and is still going strong. Such a unique legacy deserves recognition and celebration, and the 30th Anniversary Deluxe Expanded Editions are an appropriate tribute to such a storied career.

The Ultimate Venom Box Set, MMV Available November 8th through Sanctuary Records |
|
Many bands have seemingly made a deal with the devil to mark their place in the annals of heavy metal history, but Venom was perhaps the first to outwardly flaunt such a pact and easily among the most influential. With their 1981 debut album “Welcome To Hell” and the ominous chant of, “Evil…In league with Satan!,” Venom declared war on the status quo, spit in the face of the very notion of common decency, and set the pace for what was to come in the world of extreme music. The British trio of alcohol-fueled, evil-minded wild men created a legacy unlike any other, coining the phrase “black metal” and influencing such juggernauts as Slayer and Metallica. Indeed, the very image of Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon, as well as the pentagrams and inverted crosses that adorned their album covers, helped bring an image and an attitude to heavy metal that is still poignant to this day. MMV is a long overdue, four disc testament to the legacy of Venom.
MMV is a trek into the past, featuring demos, outtakes, rarities, a radio interview and alternative versions of songs. Such impactful Venom classics as “Black Metal”, “In League With Satan”, “Live Like An Angel (Die Like A Devil)”, “Welcome To Hell”, “Bloodlust” and “Acid Queen” are all represented in fully re-mastered form. Also included is a full disc of material from the Assault album series. Re-mastered and assembled by Cronos himself, the four disc collection comes packaged in a 6”x12” box, emblazoned with Venom’s distinct logo and baphomet design. The box set includes a 60 page booklet and collector’s poster. MMV’s release comes at a very appropriate time: 2005 marks the 25th anniversary of Venom’s storied career. Any metal enthusiast should make room in their collection for this audio-history of a band that changed the face of metal forever.

Vocalist Michael Storck (X-PLODE, Yngwie Malmsteen) and bassist Tobbe Moen (ex-REDFUN, OZ) round out the lineup. Taking some time off after his last album Attack!!, Yngwie Malmsteen emerged this year with not one but two new releases and has now added a national tour to his list of things to do for 2005. Revealing dates for a national routing that will take him from Jacksonville to San Francisco in as little as two-months, Yngwie plans to stay on the road through 2006 in support of his two new projects Unleash the Fury and Concerto Suite for Electric Guitar and Orchestra DVD.
Unleash the Fury, which hit stores July 26th through Spitfire Records, has been receiving rave reviews from critics and fans alike and has even been hailed as one of his best works to date. In fact, Guitar Player magazine wrote, Unleash the Fury will delight his hardcore fansThe record is a straight-up metal affair with Malmsteens incendiary neo-classical thumbprint inhabiting every nook and cranny.

Motorhead: 30th Anniversary Deluxe Expanded Editions |
|
Available November 11th through Sanctuary Records
Classic Motorhead Albums Receive Special Treatment With Bonus Tracks, Re-Mastering And Extensive Liner Notes
30 years ago, a man called Lemmy created something ugly, loud and legendary. That something was Motorhead.
In celebration of three decades of one of the most underrated, influential, and downright noisy bands to ever walk the face of the planet, Sanctuary Records presents commemorative, 30th anniversary editions of some of Motorheads most important and memorable albums, as well as a collection of BBC archive recordings and vintage performances from the 70s and 80s. Overkill, Bomber, Ace Of Spades, Iron Fist and No Remorse have all been faithfully restored and enhanced for the momentous occasion.
Debuting in 1976 after Ian Lemmy Kilmister was unceremoniously ejected from the space-rock band Hwawkwind, Motorhead was certainly something different. Different in a good way, of course. The band invented a musical genre known, appropriately enough, as speed metal. Fast, crude, in-your-face and abrasive as hell, there had never been anything else quite like Motorhead.
With the release of Overkill in 1979, Motorhead introduced the lineup that would create some of the most important hard music albums ever written: Lemmy on bass and grinding vocal duties, Fast Eddie Clarke on guitar and Philthy Phil Taylor on drums. It seems only fitting that the first album to feature this legendary unit should receive the deluxe edition treatment. Such memorable tracks as Overkill, Stay Clean, Damage Case and Tear Ya Down are given a high-profile presentation, while a second disc of bonus tracks, including b-sides and BBC radio performances makes this release worth having.
Bomber, Motorheads second 1979 release and the album made famous by the unique bomber shaped lighting rig that highlighted the accompanying tour, features such awesome songs as Bomber and Stone Dead Forever, as well as a bonus disc featuring b-sides, alternate versions of album tracks, and the Golden Years EP.
1980s Ace Of Spades again features fully re-mastered takes of the entire original album, including the seminal title track, perhaps Motorheads most well-known anthem, as well as multiple alternate versions of many of the albums standout tracks and BBC radio session outtakes.
Iron Fist, originally released in 1982, features a bonus disc with a full live set performed in 1982 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.
No Remorse, a best-of collection originally released in 1984, now features bonus tracks Under The Knife, Masterplan and two tracks No Class and Stand By Your Man with guest vocals by shock rock icon Wendy OWilliams. Finally, the BBC Live & In-Session features 2 discs comprising 5 unique BBC recording sessions of Motorhead classics recorded between 1978 and 1986.
In 30 years, Motorhead has done as much as any ten lesser bands and is still going strong. Such a unique legacy deserves recognition and celebration, and the 30th Anniversary Deluxe Expanded Editions are an appropriate tribute to such a storied career....more information

The Ultimate Venom Box Set, MMV |
|
Available November 8th Through Sanctuary Records
Many bands have seemingly made a deal with the devil to mark their place in the annals of heavy metal history, but Venom was perhaps the first to outwardly flaunt such a pact and easily among the most influential. With their 1981 debut album Welcome To Hell and the ominous chant of, EvilIn league with Satan!, Venom declared war on the status quo, spit in the face of the very notion of common decency, and set the pace for what was to come in the world of extreme music. The British trio of alcohol-fueled, evil-minded wild men created a legacy unlike any other, coining the phrase black metal and influencing such juggernauts as Slayer and Metallica.
Such impactful Venom classics as Black Metal, In League With Satan, Live Like An Angel (Die Like A Devil), Welcome To Hell, Bloodlust and Acid Queen are all represented in fully re-mastered form. Also included is a full disc of material from the Assault album series. Re-mastered and assembled by Cronos himself, the four disc collection comes packaged in a 6x12 box, emblazoned with Venoms distinct logo and baphomet design. The box set includes a 60 page booklet and collectors poster. MMVs release comes at a very appropriate time: 2005 marks the 25th anniversary of Venoms storied career. Any metal enthusiast should make room in their collection for this audio-history of a band that changed the face of metal forever....more information

Corrosion of Conformity Recovering From Hurricane Katrina |
|
European Tour Dates With Motorhead Postponed
C.O.C. Plans U.S. Tour with Disturbed
CORROSION OF CONFORMITY have been forced by Hurricane Katrina to postpone their scheduled U.K. tour dates and European tour with Motorhead. A New Orleans resident, C.O.C. lead vocalist/guitarist Pepper Keenan evacuated the city with his family, leaving behind his house and Magazine Street bar, Le Bon Temps Roul÷ùFONT>. Keenan and his family are staying temporarily in Lake Charles, Louisiana and awaiting word on when they will be able to return home.
"It wouldn't feel right standing on stage singing songs at a time like this," Keenan says. "My priority right now is to get back home and help rebuild my city."
C.O.C. 's latest album, In The Arms Of God, struck a powerful chord in the hard rock world, with Billboard praising it as a "riff-fueled set that ranks with [the band's] best work" and Rolling Stone honoring it with a 3.5-star review. Keenan, guitarist/vocalist Woody Weatherman and bass guitarist/vocalist Mike Dean were joined on the album by special guest drummer Stanton Moore, a member of the highly respected, New Orleans-based jazz/funk band Galactic. Moore is a longtime friend of Keenan's and also a Crescent City native.
Written last year, the album's fifth song, Rise River Rise, sounds eerily prescient in the wake of Katrina: "I remember you, seems like yesterday/Do you remember me I got lost on the way/Wrong muddy road is nothing new/We stand, but this river's washing through/River rise from teardrops without warning/Float away while flooding yesterday/I'm gone I won't be back by mourning/So rise river rise/Wash this place away/Clean my dirty soul/So I can save it for Judgment Day."
Living two blocks from the Mississippi in the city's Carrollton section, Keenan often walked along the levee and contemplated what would happen if the river overflowed. He found out last month. As the storm approached, Keenan boarded up his bar, his mother's house and the house of his friend, jazz drummer Johnny Vidakovich. By the time Keenan got back to his own home, the wind was howling. It was time to go. He grabbed a duffel bag of clothes, the Grammy medal C.O.C. earned when their song "Drowning in a Daydream" off Wiseblood was nominated for Best Metal Performance in 1997, and his old National resonator guitar before joining the exodus in his truck. He has visited the city briefly since the flood; while his house and bar are still standing, the bar was shot at and looted. Meanwhile, the area remains without power, sewer or running water.
"There are a lot of songs in this experience, that's for damn sure, " Keenan says.
C.O.C. plan to tour again in support of In The Arms Of God, this time opening for metal titans Disturbed.

Dee Sniders Van Helsings Curse Returns This Halloween |
|
In Its Second Season, Snider Says This Year Will Be Bigger Than Last
VAN HELSING'S CURSE, the classical/rock music brainchild of TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider, is back this Halloween bringing its horror-inspired ambience to the stage throughout the month of October.
Playing in select cities through the 31st, Sniders masterpiece promises to, once again, take audiences through a visceral journey of the senses with a new haunting show that brings the troupes famous album, "Oculus Infernum" (KOCH Records, 2003) to life through spell-binding theatrics.
The music, which is performed live by an 18-piece orchestra, a choir and a rock band, pairs heart-pounding, terrifying original compositions with clever re-workings of such memorable classic pieces as Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" (made famous by "The Exorcist" film), Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata", and more and reaches its ominous climax with a spine-chilling cover version of BLACK SABBATH's classic "Black Sabbath".
Snider will host each date of the tour, providing narration and setting the tone for the performances and promises audiences that this year will be even bigger than last. This is a very visual entity. The string section is going to be old school Goths, made-up and dressed accordingly, with flowing dresses, velvet jackets and ruffled shirts while the electric section will be very new-school, 'Hellraiser' meets MARILYN MANSON, from the hair to the makeup and attire. Our choir will be a group of druids with hooded robes and skewed faces."
Enthused about the widespread possibilities for the VAN HELSING'S CURSE project, Snider says "As the creator for VAN HELSING'S CURSE, I think the original vision is far-reaching. I see us establishing VAN HELSING'S CURSE as a significant yearly Halloween experience and a musical part of that experience. Right now, for the most part, people's Halloween activities include visiting a haunt, going trick or treating, going to a Halloween party or watching horror movie marathons. But the musical element is sorely lacking, and VAN HELSING'S CURSE provides that soundtrack for people's Halloween. It's definitely a far-reaching concept that can translate into TV, videogames, theater, movies, etc., but it all starts here with the music and our upcoming tour."
A lifelong fan of horror, Snider first made a foray into the genre writing, producing and starring in the successful cult film "StrangeLand" and its accompanying soundtrack. A sequel to the film is currently in production. In 2000, Dee entrenched himself further in the world of horror by narrating a documentary/retrospect home video regarding the making of the movie "Halloween".
Van Helsings Curse will be hitting the following cities this Halloween.
October 27th Detroit, MI Emerald Theatre* October 28th Philadelphia, PA Keswick Theatre* October 29th Long Island, NY Patchogue Theatre* October 30th Asbury Park, NJ Paramount Theatre

BRAND NEW SIN To Tour With Black Label Society |
|
First, they were black and blue. Now, they're back in Black.
To cap off a tremendous 2005 that has also seen the group tour alongside Motorhead, Corrosion of Conformity, Faster Pussycat, Zeke, Life of Agony and Scum of the Earth, the Syracuse-based hard rock quintet BRAND NEW SIN have secured the direct support slot on the upcoming Black Label Society tour, which kicks off in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Oct. 14. This five-week, Guitar World-sponsored, major market trek will coincide with the release of the video for new single "Days Are Numbered," shot by acclaimed director Dale Resteghini (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed).
BRAND NEW SIN - who recently headlined the Syracruise bike rally ("Central New York's largest annual motorcycle event") in their hometown - are no strangers to Black Label Society, who spent the summer playing to thousands of fans on the main stage of Ozzfest. The group played nine shows with Zakk Wylde's band of SDMF's three years ago in support of their self-titled debut, including an infamous Detroit gig at which Black Label Society filmed its first live DVD - a show at which the crowd depleted the venue's entire beer supply.
"We're happy to be going back out with Black Label," says BRAND NEW SIN front man Joe Altier. "The last time around, we were out for only two weeks. Our bands fit perfectly together, and this is a great chance for us to take it around the entire country."
BRAND NEW SIN continue to tour in support of their critically acclaimed second album, Recipe For Disaster. The enhanced CD, which includes a music video of the album's first single, "Black And Blue," can be ordered for only $12 (plus shipping) by visiting www.CMDistro.com.

Kings X NEW RELEASE |

KING'S X SIGNS WITH INSIDE OUT MUSIC AMERICA
NEW STUDIO ALBUM SET FOR NORTH AMERICAN RELEASE ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2005
The critically acclaimed, highly influential Texas-based rock trio King's X has signed with Inside Out Music America. The band's recent work has been released by Inside Out except in North America, and signing with IOMA unifies its label worldwide.
The first new King's X album from guitarist/vocalist Ty Tabor, bass guitarist/vocalist Doug Pinnick and drummer/vocalist Jerry Gaskill under the new deal will be released in North America on September 27, 2005. It is currently untitled and will include up to 14 songs; the track listing is being finalized.
"Signing with InsideOut is due to the longstanding relationship we have with the great people at the label like Thomas Waber in Germany and Jim Pitulski here in America," says Tabor. "It's another opportunity where we found ourselves free to make a change. We have signed with a new booking agent too.
"With Inside Out, we have that friendship and we have the same goals. They are also realistic and honest. They don't pull punches. It's a logical match."
Tabor first got to know Waber and Pitulski in recent years via his solo and all-star side projects such as Platypus, The Jelly Jam and Jughead that were released by InsideOut. Gaskill's solo album 'Come Somewhere' was also issued by the label.
The new King's X album was produced by Michael Wagener, who has produced, engineered or mixed work by the likes of Metallica, Alice Cooper, Queen, Ozzy Osbourne, Dokken, Megadeth, Motley Crue, Skid Row, Extreme and many others.
"This was a big change for us after years of self-producing our albums. We wanted to be free to focus on the music itself. Things were often fragmented the past several years. I had to oversee a lot of business things -- such as working with different labels for different territories -- that sometimes didn't allow me to really focus on the music as much as I wanted," Tabor says.
"Michael wasn't pushing us in any one direction. It was just four guys having a good time creating sounds and music. It's a broad-sounding record. It's hard to compare our music from album to album, but vocally this one has elements of early King's X and sonicaly it's similar to our recent ones.
"It feels so fresh to be able to concentrate fully on the music. I honestly believe this new album is our best record in many, many years."
King's X also plans to shoot videos for two singles from the album, their first promotional clips since 1998's 'Tapehead.' They will be directed by Dr. Teeth, who has helmed videos that are all over MTV for artists such as new hip-hop sensation Mike Jones. Tabor loves Dr. Teeth's hip-hop videos -- "The guy is extremely talented," he says -- and they met through mutual friends in Houston.
Tabor explains that the band is refreshed after having taken this year off so far.
"This was our first break after five straight years of torturous work on King's X and side projects. It was absolutely non-stop. Zero time off," he says.
King's X is back with renewed energy and creative fire, and the eclectic nature of the band's work and Inside Out's expertise in quality handmade music makes it a perfect partnership.

VH1 will cover the announcement live and the Strip will be shut down. |
The SCORPIONS kick off a U.S. tour Thursday (Oct. 21) in support of their latest album, which is called "Unbreakable", at the Everett Events Center in Everett, Washington. The dates also feature TESLA and KEITH EMERSON, and the SCORPIONS are expecting to see a wide age range in the audience. Singer Klaus Meine told Launch Radio Networks that the band's recent North American tours have drawn fans from two generations: "It was not only the fans who grew up with our music in the '80s, but there were a lot of kids, also — like, 16-, 17-, 18-year-olds — singing 'Blackout' and 'Rock You Like A Hurricane'. And it was just great to see that our music obviously has the power to cross over to a new generation."
The SCORPIONS/TESLA/KEITH EMERSON package has shows scheduled through December 5 in Reno, Nevada, and more dates are likely to be added, including an East Coast run....more information

VIXEN Reunite on VH1 |
|
The hard-rocking female glam metal band VIXEN roughed L.A.'s club circuit throughout most of the 1980s before signing with EMI Music in 1987. Known as "the female BON JOVI," VIXEN enjoyed national exposure with the 1998 release of their self-titled debut album and MTV's embrace of the band's first mega-hit, "Edge Of A Broken Heart". The band's long out-of-print EMI albums, "Vixen" and "Rev It Up", are set for reissue by EMI Music Catalog Marketing on November 2. The two albums have been fully remastered and will be in stores in time for the reunion of all of VIXEN's original members on VH1's popular show, "Bands Reunited".
VIXEN's self-titled debut was released in 1988, and fueled by heavy radio and MTV rotation of the single, "Edge of a Broken Heart", the album surpassed the gold sales mark in the U.S. and went on to sell over one million copies around the world. VIXEN's follow-up album, "Rev It Up", was released in 1990, and the singles "How Much Love" and "Love Is A Killer" spent some time on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart.
Next month, VIXEN's original members, Janet Gardner (vocals), Jan Kuehnemund (guitar), Share Pedersen (bass) and Roxy Petrucci (drums) will all appear together on VH1's "Bands Reunited" to reminisce about their start on L.A.'s Sunset Strip and their rise to fame in the late 1980s, before the onset of grunge in the early 1990s displaced metal at the top of the charts.
